Full Cost of Family Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance
The full cost of family employer-sponsored health insurance measures the total premium paid for the average health insurance plan offered by an employer for coverage of an employee and his/her family. (This includes the share of the premium paid by the employer and employee).
Median household income is a measure of the income of the exact “middle” household (half of the households in the sample make more, half make less). The figure includes the earnings of all those in a household over the age of 15.
The share of median household income that is spent on the full cost of an employer-sponsored health insurance plan measures what part of a household’s income must be spent to pay 100 percent of an employer-sponsored insurance premium.
